Details

Since 1973, Parker have been a worldwide leader in safety razor innovation and design. The Parker 33R Black Shavette Razor is a professional quality shavette straight edge razor, designed for professional and personal use alike.

The Parker family owned and operated business creates razors that are manufactured to the highest standards and enjoyed by customers around the world. All of Parker’s safety razors are lovingly assembled by hand. Parker’s goal is to help customers enjoy the most comfortable shave possible.

Shavettes are similar to traditional straight razors, with the main difference being that the blades can be changed in a similar manner to a safety razor. This means you can enjoy the pleasure of an extremely close shave without the hassle of having to sharpen your razor.

The Parker 33R has a high-quality stainless-steel blade holder and a black resin handle. The design is also available with an imitation ivory handle (Parker 34R Ivory Shavette Razor).

The razor is compatible with any regular double edge razor blade readily available in most supermarkets, pharmacies, and online. These need to be snapped in half and inserted as follows:

1. With the blade still in its individual wrapping, carefully bend lengthwise until it snaps in half.

2. Pull back the top hinged cover of the shavette and carefully insert one half of the snapped blade into place, using the location pins as guidance.

3. Carefully close the other half of the blade holder back over the blade until the snap lock is securely in place. A small portion of the edge of the blade should now be showing evenly. The blade compartment has a rounded end to minimise the risk of cuts.

Once complete, you are ready to use your shavette.

The overall length of the razor is approximately 146mm and the weight is 34g, making it easy to hold and manoeuvre.

First timer
My first time using anything other than a DE so don't really have anything to compare with. Am getting the practice in during those long Sunday soaks in the tub. Not as easy as a DE. but great for the wife to clean up the back of my neck.

Win win!
In ditching the Gillettes due to extortionate prices the only downside of going on to a classic razor is the lack of an edging blade but the Parker does the job better and you will still save money. Win win!

Great travel razor especially at the price
I normally use a straight razor however I have damaged the blade before on a trip thousands of miles away from my whetstone. So I was looking for something to travel with, this shavette is the ideal solution. It's not as close as a genuine straight razor or as easy/accurate to use (although still better than a normal safety razor). If you're looking at entering the wold of straight razors I'd advise buying a proper one, but at this price it might be worth trying this first.

Excellent first dip
Can't fault it at the price. Long fancied adding to my shaving tools and this fitted the bill. Fair bit more challenging than a DE without doubt and it's likely I'll still shave with the 34c as it's a bit more relaxed. The straight is great for those touch ups and cutting in tidy lines in partnership. Well worth a shot I think before jumping into straights fully and looks good in the collection

I purchased this item not expecting the quality to be especially high (given the price). However, I'm pleased to confirm that it's a great product, particularly at the advertised price point. Recommended.
