Le Pere Lucien Oud-Santal Shaving Soap is made from tallow and shea butter for an easy to generate lather that will form a cushioning blanket for your face. The masculine fragrance is a delicate blend of oud and sandalwood.
To obtain a creamy lather that will protect you throughout your shave, wet your brush thoroughly and spend time (30 seconds - 1 minute) generating the foam. To preserve the soap and all its qualities, it is best to permanently leave the lid off to allow the soap to dry and harden making it more economical and easier to lather.
Hand made in France, presented in a 200g stainless steel tub.
Ingredients: Potassium cocoate, Potassium Stearate, Aqua, Potassium Tallowate, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter, Coconut Fatty Acid, Glycerin, Fragrance, (Benzyl benzoate, alpha isomethyl ionone, Hexylcinnamal, Eugenol)
- Quality that's worth paying for.
An excellent soap that needs a little work in the bowl before giving a masterful shave. I bought my first on a whim, I've bought another 4 since then for the quality of the soap. I don't know of any other better tin either, this is a proper built to last metal can, not a cheap stretched aluminium tub.

- One of the all-time greats!
I understand this soap is seen as a step down in price but equal in quality to MdC; here’s my take on this. Firstly- the scent: before lather its a 3.5, while lathering it moves to a 4.5 (out of 10). Next: ease of making a lather: I bloomed the soap for 5 minutes (that’s one major difference from MdC: that soap never needs blooming) and within 30~45 seconds, the (boar) brush was fully loaded. When I started my face lather was when the magic began: the foam just exploded! I don’t think I’ve seen such thick lather from a soap before- and I’ve been shaving now for years. Peaks and trough? Forget it, this foam was the consistency of whipped cream, it was that thick! A cushion so thick, I’d probably be able to nap on it if I wanted to! Gave me a superp 3 pass shave, incredible slickness between passes and during the final rinse. This is one soap you can use if you want to skip the post shave balm, my skin felt that slick and moisturised. Final thoughts: I’ll try to lather from a dry puck the next time- I don’t think a bloom is really necessary. Would I buy again? Certainly- if I live that long- this puck will (a conservative estimate) last me a year and change; and I’ve bought two already!
