Details

The sensational performance and finish of the Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Stainless Steel Knurled DE Safety Razor has been achieved using revolutionary product design and advanced precision manufacturing techniques.

The range takes its name from the 316 grade of stainless steel - a grade originally forged in Sheffield, England, home of Edwin Jagger. With a superior resistance to corrosion and pitting, grade 316 is the ideal choice for wet shaving implements.

Great care has been taken during the prototyping stages to ensure each step of the manufacturing process contributes to a resilient and practical razor.

The 3ONE6 is a versatile and easy-to-use razor – the quality of the shave remains consistent from a wide variety of shaving angles while the balance and weight should delight all shavers. Its slimline form ensures a nimble shave with reliable, smooth and efficient results.

Razor Head

Famous within the world of wet shaving for the iconic classic DE89 razor head, Edwin Jagger celebrates the use of a new material for the 3ONE6 and a completely new advanced head design.

The raised rails on the base plate create the perfect position for the blade which has been established through years of experience and extensive testing. This enables the razor to shave equally effectively from multiple angles of approach. It is compatible with all the most popular DE razor blades on the market and has been designed to combine impeccably with any choice of blade. The 3ONE6 generates next to no blade feel to ensure a comfortable and premium shaving experience.

The carefully planned layout of the locating pins minimises possible movement of the blade when secured between the top and bottom plates, makes the razor easy to assemble and offers increased stability of the blade edge during the shave.

Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Stainless Steel DE Razor HeadThe delicately ridged skin guards on the outer edges of the base plate gently stretch your facial skin to create a uniform shaving surface and prepare the beard hair for the blade. Any excess shaving lather and cut hair is smartly channelled away through four lather slots to prevent the razor from clogging as its shaves. These features make for a smooth, quick and effortless shaving experience.

The two-part razor head is the first ever double edge safety razor head to be produced in the UK using 100% metal injection moulding (MIM). MIM is a manufacturing process that involves combining pure metal powders with binding materials making injection and manipulation easier to control. This carefully formulated mix of material is then injected into unique Edwin Jagger tooling using extreme pressure and then heat to create the small and complex precision components. MIM permits very fine manufacturing tolerances and minimises any weakness due to the directional flow of injected material.

The central screw thread is extremely strong and is an integral, robust and durable part of the top plate. The characteristics formed by the engineered tooling have been embellished to showcase the advanced manufacturing techniques utilised in the creation of this amazing razor.

The Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Stainless Steel Double Edge Safety Razor has been extensively stress-tested and Edwin Jagger can guarantee the screw thread will not snap with normal use.

The MIM process also ensures Edwin Jagger customers benefit from a range of efficiencies as well as outstanding performance, unrivalled quality and reasonable price point of this premium stainless steel razor.

Handle

Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Knurled Handle

The collar, end-cap and knurled stainless steel handle of the 3ONE6 are all CNC machined from Sheffield-forged 316 grade stainless steel. The quality of the machining is such that the finish is exemplary; there are no signs of the cutting and shaping tools used during the manufacturing process. The 100% continuous CNC machines used by Edwin Jagger create each component in one single process. This enhances the flowing curves of the component pieces and elevates the elegant overall design.

The diamond knurling on the stainless steel handle provides the razor with extra grip to ensure it does not slip - even with wet hands - and adds to the engineered aesthetic of the razor. Fine laser detailing around the collar and end cap showcases the Edwin Jagger name and world-renowned mark of quality manufacturing, ‘Sheffield, England’.

The handles of the 3ONE6 are made using equipment utilised in aerospace manufacture. The original batches of handles were tested with up to one quarter of a metric ton of pressure without failing.

Production Processes

The Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 Stainless Steel Double Edge Safety Razor is the first ever commercially manufactured razor of its type to be made in Sheffield using components machined from genuine Sheffield-forged 316 grade stainless steel.

In addition to the MIM and CNC production processes, the components of the handle and two-part head are subjected to a series of finishing techniques. The attractive surface of the razor is achieved through two separate machine and chemical surface enhancement processes commonly used in the manufacture of medical equipment. This produces a smooth, clean, and bright appearance free from impurities and reveals the optimal characteristics of the stainless steel base. Each component goes through at least six different production processes and six individual inspection processes before final boxing. Every razor is polished and packed by hand by one of our dedicated Sheffield craftspeople.

Packaging

The smart packaging for the 3ONE6 is also 100% made in the UK and has been designed with user interaction in mind. The box slides open and locks, revealing the individual component pieces of the razor through the viewing window. Each piece is suspended in a safe and secure high-density foam insert made from recycled materials.

The shaver experiences the pleasure of assembling the razor for the first time and is encouraged to inspect each component in its original form.

A beautifully made razor that works well for my shaving needs. The knurled handle and length allow for a solid grip. This is my second Edwin Jagger razor and am impressed with the company's attention to detail.

edwin jagger 3one6 razor
This all stainless steel razor is an excellent shaving tool, it is beautifully weighted and i find with a personna blade it gives a wonderful shave. I intend to try other blades as i go on. It is rather expensive , but compared to some other stainless steel razors it is reasonably priced. I would recommend this razor to the more experienced shaver. However with effort a beginner could soon learn to use this as well. I take care of my razors and with care this will last you a lifetime and probably two more.

Very nicely weighted. Handles well and requires only a lightness of touch for an excellent shave.

Overall weight, handling, shape, size and impact is perfect. Looked for an effective razor like this for months. Was using Gillette Mach for years but got fed up on expense and environmental impact. This is a good quality and very positive solution.

3 PLUS 1 PLUS 6 EQUALS....... 10/10
Top quality product. On first acquaintance I felt it was a little light but after several weeks use it has turned out to be just right. Very efficient with every stroke, smooth and burn free, one of the best razors in my collection. I am especially impressed with the fit and finish just as much as its performance!

Definite step up from EJ
This is a quality razor. From the presentation in the box, to the feel of it once put together, it just feels a lot more impressive than the DE89 for instance.
Shave wise I find it very smooth when paired with a vokshod or perma sharp blade, and you get some lovely feedback from this razor too. It's light but not overly so.
My only slight criticism is I'm not sure it's worth what you'd pay for a gamechanger 84 or a karve razor, however I was willing to pay as I felt it important to support a British razor manufacturer.
It's my daily shaver and I'm very happy with it.

A very impressive razor. Set to become a classic.
I was a little apprehensive when ordering this razor as some reviews had mentioned that there was quite a wide blade gap and that the razor was moderately aggressive - I generally prefer mild razors. I needn't have worried.

Yes, the gap between the blade and the closed comb or bar is a bit wider than some of my razors, but it's not excessive. I'd say it gives you a bit more "blade-feel" so you can feel where the edge of the blade is and what it's doing, but I wouldn't call it agressive. That said, this is a very efficient razor - it does the job very effectively on my beard with just two passes, which saves a little time and reduces irritaton. My skin feels more comfortable and smoother with a 2-pass shave from the 3ONE6 than it does after a 3-pass shave with my DE89. The feel and feedback the 3ONE6 gives actually makes the razor feel easier and more predictable to use in my view.

In comparison with the Muhle Rocca stainless razor - which is perhaps the nearest in price and materials, this gives a way better and more predictable shave - I was very disappointed in both the shave and the construction of that one.

I really like the weight and balance of this razor - and I like the lighter handle. My guess is the handle has solid end pieces turned out of solid stainless steel bar with a knurled, tubular mid-section, which the end pieces are press-fitted into. Much like the original Gilette "Old" and "New" handles (though they were made from brass).

The fit and finish of the two-part head is exceptional - they fit together really precisely and hold the blade with absolute precision. Way better than some (much more expensive) razors that make a big play on being CNC machined from solid stainless steel (yes, ATT, I'm looking at you...). The "tabs" at each end of the blade are left slightly exposed, which gives a slightly shorter and more "nimble" head in my view.

Tos sum up, this is a cracking, all stainless razor available for a very keen price. I can fully understand why the first batch sold out so quickly. It's not just an excellent value razor, but an excellent razor, full stop.

Smooth and Efficient
Prior to purchasing the 3one6 I had been using a DE89 (Barley) which I loved but I was keen to own a more efficient razor.
On arrival the 3one6 packaging and presentation is top notch. The box reveals its contents by opening like a draw. Visible beneath a clear window the draw contains a foam insert inlayed with each of the razors three pieces and a 5 pack of Feather blades . On inspection each piece of the razor is beautifully crafted. The head and base plate have a satin finish and handle is knurled chrome. Knurling on the handle is grippy even when wet. The head and blade when pieced together is slightly lighter than my DE89. What appears to be a unique head design allows blade loading to sit snugly and perfectly square every time. The knurled handle is slightly weightier than my DE89 barley handle which moves the balance slightly lower down. The balance point was an instant like for me and in hand made the head feel more nimble.
Eyeballing side by side the blade gap of the 3one6 is approximately twice that of the DE89. So yes, more aggressive but surprisingly still just as smooth in use.

Shaving with the 3one6 is everything that I had hoped for. It’s incredibly smooth yet efficient. Shave angle is very easy to find and has good blade feedback. In the two weeks of use so far prior to this review, I’ve not once had any nicks, cuts or post shave discomfort. A two pass shave (with and across the grain) is enough to deliver a fantastic shave requiring very little clean up afterwards. Post shave with the Feather or any of my other goto blades (Nacet, Voskhod, 7 o’clock green) there is very little - to no irritation. So far I’ve not tried shaving more than three days growth but it passed through that with ease.
Overall I can see the 3one6 becoming highly regarded and follow the respect, success and fame of the DE89. Yes, the 3one6 is more expensive but its quality and shave comfort is in my opinion money well spent; especially for a razor that potentially could last a lifetime. My DE89 has since become my travel razor and the 3one6 my daily and I absolutely love it.

A precision instrument
Amazing experience. Shipped to Canada in 2 weeks. Customer service by email was prompt and courteous ( thanks Charlotte!) I love this razor. Excellent in hand. Beautiful attention to detail. Coupled with the enclosed feather blades this razor is a dream. I was somewhat apprehensive when I saw the blade gap that it might be to aggressive for me but with attention to technique I found it is extremely comfortable and provides me with the beat shaves of my life. Bravo!

good but not within the best
Overall a good and efficient razor.
To give you a reference point my favorite DE razor is my Rockwell 6s (Plate 4) followed by GameChanger .84
Quality is good and shave is comfortable but for my liking with too much blade feel. Doesn't feel too smooth paired with a Astra Stainless. Shave is efficient though with no irritation or nicks. Would say something between 6S plate 5 and Gamechanger.

So overall for me personally a good razor but for my preferences not my favorite one.

Edwin Jagger 3one6
What can you say it's Edwin Jagger build quality so exceptional, it shaves really well, I love short handles so great for me and it looks amazing as well like all of your razors do.

This is an upgrade to the de89 which I also own it's slightly more aggresive and efficient in whipping off your whiskers.

It's a bargain at the price it is, I own lots of razors and this is one of the sexiest

Surprisingly good
Did not know what to expect with this model. When I received it, the head looked to be good quality, but the handle was a little light and more narrow than what I prefer. Shave was very good. I could play with the angle and get something extremely smooth or extremely aggressive. No matter which angle you use, the shave is very efficient. I am satisfied with this razor.

Excellent
This razor is the best i have over twenty de razors from reasonably priced to very expensive but this is the dog's dangly bits , it's mild but efficient at the same time. The only negative for me is the handle I like a longer heavier so I put my ATT Colossus on it it's now perfect for me . I don't want to put people of about the handle because everyone is different.

First Impressions
Wow!
From time this razor was first announced, I waited eagerly for the release.
I jumped when the news letter landed in my in box to say it was ready.
The packaging is well thought out presenting each piece of the razor, and 5 Feather blades in a sliding box and under a clear piece of plastic.
The razor is beautifully finished, no tool marks and has the Edwin Jagger name laser etched on the handle. Weight feels very nice and well balanced, the knurling on the handle gives a good grip, and the blade is held securely in the head by the locating pins.
Shaving is a dream, with some nice audible feedback, two passes is all that was required to get a baby smooth face.
Price point is about right for the quality and craftsmanship.
A quality English product.
