Founded in 1906, Merkur is a German-based company producing some of the most renowned shaving implements in the industry. The Merkur Progress Adjustable DE Safety Razor (Long Handle) is a double edge safety razor with an easy-to-use mechanism that allows the blade angle and exposure to be adjusted.
With an overall length of 105mm (4.1"), this is a standard-sized razor that is only slightly longer than an Edwin Jagger 3ONE6 razor. Almost all shavers will find the 84mm (3.1") handle fits firmly in their hand while offering a good level of manoeuvrability and agility. At 100g (4.2oz), this is a fairly heavy razor, providing a much smoother shave than lightweight plastic razors. Using gravity to your advantage, you can just allow the weighty razor to glide across your face without having to apply any pressure.
The handle features a retro-style large scalloped-line design, giving it a classic appearance and enhanced wet grip. The adjustable imitation ivory dial sits at the bottom of the razor and is operated with a twist function for ease of use. Adjustable razors have a dial at the bottom of the handle with different settings that can be selected to alter the blade gap and exposure. This allows the user to try the different variables to find the setting that works best on their hair and skin.
