Philipp Klar began his adventure into the world of soap making in 1840, setting off on a journey that took him as far as St. Petersburg. When he returned to Germany he decided to set up his workshop and adjoining store in the town of Heidelberg, establishing a company that continue to trade to this day as Germany's oldest soap maker.

Philipp Klar's image is printed on every tin of Klar Activated Charcoal Shaving Soap. The black metal tin also holds a black shaving soap, coloured by its key ingredient: activated charcoal. The substance is already used in Klar's Activated Charcoal Soap Bar, and now here, lending its superior cleansing properties and distinctive colour. It cleanses your skin while you shave!

Activated charcoal has been shown to clean deep within your pores, removing toxins and impurities without absorbing away the beneficial vitamins and nutrients your skin needs. Because of its extremely fine, granular nature, each teaspoon of activated charcoal has more than a football field's worth of surface area! It's a great exfoliator, removing dead skin and dirt and letting your natural smoothness and glow shine through. Unwanted toxins and chemicals are attracted to the charcoal grains and washed away, leaving your epidermis to thrive with a smooth, even tone.

This shaving soap is also fragrance-free, meaning less chance of irritation for those with sensitive skin. It's free of plastic and palm oil and is vegan friendly. Lather it up by applying warm water to your shaving brush of choice, and then whip up a strong lather using circular motions across the top of the puck.
